מפעל החיים של בתיה יום טוב התחיל כאשר היא הייתה עולה חדשה מפולין בת 20 וקצת, בעלה פוטר מעבודתו והיא החליטה לפתוח בית קפה. ב-1941 כבר היה אפשר למצוא אצלה בקפה את אלכסנדר פן ונתן אלתרמן מבקשים תוספת לוודקה. במסעדה סעדו דמויות מרכזיות שהקימו את המדינה - כל ההגנה והפלמ"ח, שלונסקי, יגאל אלון, משה דיין ומי לא.....

התפריט נשאר ללא שינוי כבר 70 שנים. באוגוסט 2012 נסגרה המסעדה בדיזנגוף 197 בעקבות כוונות להפוך את הבניין שבו שכנה למלון בוטיק.
בימים אלה המסעדה מנוהלת על ידי הבת והנכדות של בתיה. היא כבר מתקשה להתרוצץ בין הסירים והצלחות ולדאוג ללקוחות.

Batya Yom Tov's legacy began in 1941 when she was a 20 year-old new immigrant from Poland and her husband lost his job. That's when she decided to open a coffee shop. At the time you’d find Alexander Penn and Natan Alterman asking for something to eat with their vodka, along with many of the country's central figures and leaders who dined at Batya's restaurant.

Sadly, Batya recently passed away, leaving her daughter Miri and granddaughters to continue running the restaurant, serving the same delicious traditional Polish-Jewish dishes as per Batya’s recipes and direction.
